My Mares
You don't get a herd without broodmares so a page celebrating the ponies that have produced my lovely beasts.
Curdiff (34/13)
Bought with my first paycheque from my first job from Peter Dean in Cumbria Curdiff produced five of the Herd 309 foals. Sadly she was found dead in the field in 2000, eight weeks after Ezri was born.
Bella (198/2)
Daughter of Rosslyn, a mare in the trekking section that I had heard my friends talk about, I bought Bella as a two year old. She has fantastic movement which she has passed on to all her offspring, and they in turn have passed it on to theirs. I sold her to Sam, who gave her as a Valentine's present to my friend Jackie. She is now living near Cheltenham and has produced a three lovely foals for them, Annabelle, Isabelle and Albert.
Rhona (93/27)
Full sister to Pendragon, she was a very generous christmas present to me when she was two. She has spent some time in the trekking section, both before and after Jura was born. In fact she spent the summer trekking in Glendevon while pregnant with Jura, I told him there'd be trouble if he was hard to back since technically he'd already been ridden! This year she had her second colt foal, Mercalli, this time by Sweetcombe Sundew. She is now back up at Heathpool, where she was born, having weaned Mercalli she is often stolen by students for rides at the weekend. I'm hoping to put in her in foal again this year...
Flecknoe (14/19)
I was given Flecknoe by Tim and Margaret McKintosh for which I am very grateful. She is a huge, big, strong mare and while hasn't been out and about much has enjoyed a first place in her showing debut and many a bareback pootle out onto the hill at the back of the farm. She unfortunately lost the one foal I have bred from her previously but this year the wait was finally over. She is now the proud mother of a lovely stocky looking colt and definitely, finally enjoying motherhood...
