OUT AND ABOUT

What Exmoors in Scotland get up to:

Endurance Riding:

Exmoors are active in this sport and have successfully completed distances as high as 40 miles.  They are fully accepted by Scottish Endurance Riding Club (SERC) as an adult or child's riding pony.  Exmoors have been included on both branch teams during interbranch and pony club competition and the Scotland team 2007 when competing in the Home International and Celtic Challenge.

Showing:

Exmoors have been very successful at the Royal Highland Show, as well as other shows around Scotland.  In 2006 the winner of the Ridden M&M was the Exmoor, Raphael ridden by Pam Brown.  In the last few years we are lucky enough to have had the Exmoor Pony Society Scottish Area Show reinstated with great success.  Held at Strathallan Castle in September it is an excellent opportunity to see Exmoors competing from all over Scotland.

Trekking:

The blame behind a lot of Scottish Exmoor obsession lays wholely at the door of the Dick Vet Trekking section.  They trek in winter from just outside Edinburgh and in summer from Glendevon in Perthshire.  Depending on their trekking commitments the ponies have also been seen out and about at SEPRC events.  Visit the trekking website for further information.

General Fun and Frolics:

Most of all, Exmoors make great family ponies.  You never really grow out of them and they are always ready to have fun and make you laugh!  They will try their hoof at pretty much any equine discipline, having even been seen playing a chukka or two, and they will not disgrace themselves!
